Home and community care provider Silver Chain has won a swag of national awards for its online COVID-19 learning model.

The program allows frontline teams to learn remotely and supports them in infection control and the use of PPE.

The based organisation, which provides care for 100,000 older Australians nationally, took home four awards at the LearnX Awards on September 17.

The LearnX International Awards recognise learning, development and talent management across the corporate, education and public-service sectors and are designed to recognise and encourage projects and solutions that deliver best practice and business value.

The team that developed the program in response to COVID-19 was named Gold Winner for Best Technical Skills Training Project, and took out platinum awards for Best Online Health and Safety Project, Best Rapidly Shifted Online Learning Model and Best Online Learning Model.

Group Manager, Capability at Silver Chain Dannielle Phelan, who led the team,  said the provider was forced to pivot its approach to learning and moved to support its front-line workers as soon as the pandemic was declared.

“As we moved to new ways of working during the start of the pandemic, we rapidly transitioned face-to-face workshops to online learning models,” she said.

“The most crucial of these online learning models – ‘COVID-19 ‘Protecting yourself, your clients and your community’ supported frontline teams to safely use PPE and prevent COVID-19 infection.”
